The first Ballerz, Beatz & BBQ session, held on 28 August, was a fantastic success, bringing together young people from a range of age groups for an afternoon filled with fun, connection, and community spirit.
The event provided a welcoming and inclusive space where participants could get involved in a variety of activities, including basketball, ping-pong, cricket, arts and crafts, and music. Throughout the afternoon, young people enjoyed plenty of laughs, built new friendships, and connected with others in a positive and supportive environment.
A highlight of the day was the community BBQ, where everyone enjoyed a sausage sandwich while taking the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations about mental health and wellbeing. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged open discussion and helped foster a sense of belonging among attendees.
It was wonderful to see young people staying active, expressing their creativity, and supporting one another throughout the event. The combination of sport, music, creative activities, and shared food created an environment where participants felt valued, connected, and empowered.
The success of this first session demonstrates the importance of providing opportunities for young people to come together, build relationships, and strengthen their sense of community. We look forward to seeing Ballerz, Beatz & BBQ continue to grow and provide a safe, engaging, and positive space for local young people in the future.
