On 4 August, headspace Grafton proudly celebrated 50 years of NAIDOC alongside the incredible achievements of our cultural programs, bringing together community members to honour culture, creativity and connection.
The special exhibition, held at headspace Grafton, showcased a collection of artworks created by local young Aboriginal artists through our cultural groups. Each piece reflected unique stories, identities and cultural pride, highlighting the important legacy these young artists are building for future generations.
The event was officially opened with a warm Welcome to Country by Uncle Ken Gordon, whose words set the tone for a meaningful celebration of culture and community. Guests were also treated to a powerful didgeridoo performance by Lennox, adding a special and memorable element to the occasion.
The exhibition provided an opportunity for young people to share their creativity and cultural expression with the wider community, while also recognising the significance of NAIDOC’s 50-year journey in celebrating and elevating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices.
A heartfelt thank you goes to Bianca Monaghan for her dedication, passion and hard work behind the scenes in bringing this event to life. We also extend our gratitude to everyone who attended, supported our young and deadly artists, and joined us in celebrating culture through creativity.
As we mark this significant NAIDOC milestone, we are proud to continue creating spaces where young people can connect with culture, tell their stories and inspire future generations.
