Last Saturday, 23 May 2026, the headspace Grafton Work & Study team โ Cate and Maddy โ attended the Maclean Youth Harvest Festival, hosted by the Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation at the Maclean Showgrounds. Even with steady rain falling throughout the day, young people from across the region showed up with enthusiasm and resilience.
The festival was alive with activity. Local young people proudly ran their own stalls, showcasing creativity, initiative, and community pride. The colour run went ahead in all its messy, vibrant glory, while the petting zoo and other handsโon activities kept spirits high despite the weather.

At the headspace gazebo, the Work and Study team set up a Work & Studyโthemed photo booth, which quickly became a popular stop for festivalโgoers looking for a fun moment between showers. They also ran a draw for headspace Grafton branded prize packs, with entry requiring young people to answer questions about headspaceโs new outreach presence in Maclean and Yamba. It sparked plenty of meaningful conversations about opportunities, support, and what young people want to see in their local communities.
The afternoon was long, wet, and windy, but filled with genuine engagement. Cate and Maddy connected with countless young people, families, and community members who braved the weather to make the event a success. The team left feeling grateful for the opportunity โ and hopeful for an invitation to return next year.
