On 23 September, the headspace Coffs Harbour team had the privilege of delivering our Mental Health Awareness Program to a wonderful group of young women at Coffs Harbour High School.
A big thank you to the school’s wellbeing team for inviting us to be part of this meaningful opportunity. It was a privilege to create a safe and supportive space where participants could engage in important conversations about mental health, explore practical coping strategies, and learn about the value of having trusted supports and wellbeing tools to draw upon during challenging times.
Throughout the session, participants reflected on ways to look after their mental health, build resilience, and strengthen their understanding of emotional wellbeing. The level of engagement, openness, and willingness to contribute to discussions was truly inspiring.
To finish the program, the group took part in a series of creative and grounding activities, including breathwork, movement, and music composition. These activities encouraged emotional regulation, self-awareness, and creative expression, while also providing participants with practical strategies they can use in their everyday lives.
It was wonderful to see everyone connect, support one another, and express themselves in such unique and positive ways throughout the day.
Thank you to all the young people who participated and helped make the session such a thoughtful and empowering experience. We would also like to give a special shout-out to our incredible headspace Coffs Harbour clinicians, Beck and Maddi, whose passion, knowledge, and energy helped make the day such a success.
We look forward to continuing to work with local schools and young people across our community to promote mental health awareness, wellbeing, and connection.
headspace Coffs Harbour is delivered locally by Health Voyage and is part of the national headspace network. headspace Coffs Harbour is funded by Healthy North Coast through the North Coast PHN Program.
