Time to read:
On 13 May, we had the privilege of attending Close the Gap Day, engaging with more than 800 students from schools across the Clarence Valley. Building on the momentum and success of last yearโs gathering, this yearโs event once again created a powerful space for young people to reflect on their aspirations and share their visions for the future.
A highlight of the day was the continued tradition of vision board creation. Students enthusiastically expressed their goals, dreams, and personal ambitions through creative displays. The boards told stories of hope, determination, and imaginationโeach uniquely capturing what the future means to them.
Across the event, several themes stood out. Many students spoke about their desire to help others and give back to their communities, while others dreamed of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like swimming with whales and travelling the world. A strong focus on personal development was also evident, with students eager to improve their skills and excel in a wide range of sports.
What truly made the day special was the supportive and encouraging environment. Students not only shared their own ambitions but also uplifted one another, creating a sense of unity and collective motivation that was felt throughout the event.

This meaningful day would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of our partners, Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation and Ready Quit Solid. Their support played a vital role in bringing the event to life and ensuring its continued success.
Close the Gap Day 2026 was a powerful reminder of the importance of uplifting young voices and supporting their journeysโan investment in brighter, stronger futures for all.
