Supporting young people through stressful periods is an important part of promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Recently, Chrysta and Cate from headspace Grafton delivered a psychoeducation workshop to Maclean High School focused on stress, anxiety and exam wellbeing to three groups of students, with approximately 20 participants in each session.
The workshops aimed to increase students’ understanding of anxiety and help them recognise the common signs and symptoms of stress that can arise during exam periods. Through engaging discussions and practical activities, students explored ways to manage challenges and build resilience during times of increased pressure.
Participants were introduced to a range of evidence-based strategies to support emotional regulation, stress management and overall wellbeing. The sessions also highlighted the importance of healthy study habits, self-care practices and seeking support when needed, helping students feel more confident and prepared as they approached their exams.
By providing young people with practical tools and knowledge, headspace Grafton continues to support students in developing the skills they need to maintain their wellbeing and thrive both in and out of the classroom.
headspace Grafton is delivered locally by Health Voyage and is part of the national headspace network. headspace Grafton is funded by Healthy North Coast through the North Coast PHN Program.
