Supporting Year 11 Students Through Exam Stress and Anxiety

Time to read:

1–2 minutes

As exam season approaches, many young people experience increased stress and anxiety as they balance study demands, future plans and everyday life. To help students navigate these challenges, headspace Grafton partnered with the Work and Study team to deliver a mental health literacy session to the Year 11 cohort at South Grafton High School on 16 October.

The session focused on understanding exam stress and anxiety, providing students with valuable insights into how stress can affect their mental health, wellbeing and academic performance. Through engaging discussions and practical activities, students explored healthy coping strategies to manage exam-related pressures, build resilience and maintain balance during a demanding time of the school year.

A key focus of the session was encouraging open conversations about mental health and reinforcing the importance of seeking support when needed. Students were equipped with practical tools and techniques to help manage stress, stay focused and look after their wellbeing throughout their studies.

headspace Grafton is proud to work alongside local schools and community partners to support the mental health and wellbeing of young people. By delivering early intervention and mental health education programs, we aim to empower students with the confidence, knowledge and resources they need to overcome challenges and thrive both in and out of the classroom.

We thank South Grafton High School for the opportunity to connect with their Year 11 students and contribute to creating a supportive environment where young people can learn, grow and reach their full potential.

headspace Grafton is delivered locally by Health Voyage and is part of the national headspace network. headspace Grafton is funded by Healthy North Coast through the North Coast PHN Program.
