Youth Week 2026 brought energy, colour, and a powerful message of support to the community, as South Grafton High School students hosted a Youth Run for Mental Health. The event invited community members of all ages to come together, get active, and show their support for youth mental healthโwhile embracing a fun and vibrant atmosphere by sporting their most colourful and funky head accessories.
The event was attended by Jenni, Casey (a Youth Reference Group member), Charlize, and Dan from headspace Grafton, all of whom played important roles in ensuring the day ran smoothly and successfully.
Dan officially welcomed participants at the start line, speaking about the importance of early help-seeking behaviour for young people. His opening remarks set the tone for the event, highlighting how vital it is to normalise conversations around mental health and encourage young people to reach out for support when they need it.
Meanwhile, Jenni, Casey, and Charlize took on the role of course marshals, positioning themselves along the route to guide runners, ensure safety, and cheer participants on. Their presence helped create a supportive and encouraging environment, reinforcing the strong sense of community behind the event.
The Youth Run for Mental Health was a meaningful opportunity to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and foster connection. By combining movement, community spirit, and open dialogue, the event showcased how local initiatives can make a real impact in promoting youth wellbeing.
With bright colours, smiling faces, and a shared purpose, the day was a reminder that when a community comes together, it can help create a more supportive and understanding environment for young people everywhere.
